*Subject to change at any time as pandemic conditions change

The following guidelines have been developed by the high school and middle school administrations and the district leadership of RSU5.  These guidelines apply to all high school and middle school sport activities, including middle school, sub-Varsity and Varsity levels.

RSU5 will communicate these guidelines to its opponents prior to competitions to ensure compliance and understanding.

Spectators

  • High School Basketball visiting spectators will be limited to FOUR spectators per player. Siblings/student spectators must arrive and enter the facility with an adult. Upon arrival at the admissions table, visiting spectators will be asked what player they are attached to and will be check off against the player roster that we are provided.
  • Visiting spectators should practice social distancing whenever possible
  • Spectators will be required to wear masks at all times during all indoor activities.
  • Home and away spectators must sit in the designated bleacher/seating areas as identified in the venues.  Efforts to separate and distance from other household groups within the bleachers, to the extent possible, are appreciated.

Masks

  • Masking will be REQUIRED of ALL people at all Freeport High School INDOOR EVENTS at all times.
    • This includes both those directly involved in the competition (athletes, coaches, officials, game/event staff) as well as spectators.
    • This applies to all Freeport High School team practices and competitive events, whether hosted at an RSU5 facility, an off-site private facility, or when RSU5 teams are traveling to another school/venue to compete.
      • RSU5 teams will be masked for ALL practices and competitions and will request that opposing teams follow suit until further notice.
      • RSU5 reserves the right to refuse to compete against other teams/schools that do not adhere to these masking guidelines.
    • Failure to comply with the masking requirement may result in an individual’s removal from the event venue.
  • Masking for OUTDOOR EVENTS is recommended.

Vaccination

  • COVID-19 vaccination is highly recommended for all student-athletes and coaches as a measure to reduce serious illness and limit the number of required quarantine individuals on the team due to close contact.
  • Some venues that host Winter sports activities may require proof of vaccination to entering the facility and our student-athletes, coaches, team personnel, event staff and spectators impacted will need to comply to enter those venues.
    • RSU5 will notify teams & parents of these venues in advance.

COVID-19 Testing

  • Participation in RSU5’s pool testing program is highly recommended for all student-athletes and coaches as a measure to proactively identify individuals who have COVID-19 and to reduce spread to teammates and limit the number of required quarantine individuals on the team due to close contact.
    • Information and/or signup forms for pool testing are available in the Nurse’s Office.
  • Some venues that host Winter sports activities may require unvaccinated individuals to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test 24 hours prior to entering the facility and those student-athletes, coaches, team personnel, event staff and spectators impacted will need to comply in order to enter those venues.
  • Students and families are responsible for all aspects of providing negative test resluts.
    • RSU5 will notify teams & parents of these venues in advance.
