FREEPORT HIGH SCHOOL - PRACTICE PROCEDURES
ENTERING PRACTICE FACILITIES
• All student must leave the school building and school grounds at the end of the day unless you are scheduled for a practice at 2:45. Student athletes practicing any time after 2:45 must leave and arrive back at the practice facility no earlier than 10 minutes before the scheduled start of practice. Do not congregate in the parking lot or entryways. Students are expected to practice social distancing and wear masks.
• Joan Benoit Samuelson Track & Turf – (Soccer, Field Hockey, Football)
Coaches will greet & direct you to fence line. Athletes will use hand sanitizer before entering the facility.
Athletes will enter onto the track and go directly to a location that is up against the fence line on the outside of the track. Look for the colored zip ties across the top of the fence that indicates 6 feet of social distancing.
• Pownal Road Field – (Football)
Coaches will greet & direct you to fence line. Athletes will use hand sanitizer before entering the facility.
Athletes will enter the facility and go directly to a location that is up against and inside the little league fence line and backstop at the far end of the facility. Look for the colored zip ties across the top of the fence that indicates 6 feet of social distancing.
• Baseball Field – (Cross County & JV/FT Soccer)
Coaches will greet & direct you to fence line. Athletes will use hand sanitizer before entering the facility.
Athletes will enter the baseball field and go directly to a location that is up against the fence line – third baseline and around to center field. Look for the colored zip ties across the top of the fence that indicates 6 feet of social distancing.
• Softball Field – (Cheering)
Coaches will greet & direct you to fence line. Athletes will use hand sanitizer before entering the facility.
Athletes will enter the softball field and go directly to a location that is up against the fence line out in left field. Look for the colored zip ties across the top of the fence that indicates 6 feet of social distancing.
• Softball Field – (Field Hockey)
Coaches will greet & direct you to fence line. Athletes will use hand sanitizer before entering the facility.
Athletes will enter the softball field and go directly to a location that is up against the fence line at the back of the tennis courts. Look for the colored zip ties across the top of the fence that indicates 6 feet of social distancing.
• Freeport Country Club – (Golf)
Coaches will greet & direct you to road area. Athletes will use hand sanitizer before entering the facility.
Athletes will enter the Freeport Country Club and go directly to a location that is along the dirt road to the maintenance facility and practice range. Look for the painted hash marks on the ground that indicates 6 feet of social distancing.
• Athletes must wear masks and maintain a distance of 6 feet along the fence line and remain in this location until directed by the coaching staff
• Coaches will take attendance and will confirm via verbal acknowledgement that the COVID-19 self-assessment was completed at home prior to arriving at the facility (see attached self-assessment screen tool). Confirm self-assessment screening tool completed before all practices while in HYBRID.
• Athletes will keep all their personal belongings at their specific location for the duration of practice.

HYDRATION
• Athletes/Coaches/Staff will be required to bring their own water bottle
• No sharing of water bottles, towels, food, clothing, or other personal items allowed
• During water breaks, athletes should return to their space along the fence line and remain there for the duration of the water break
- The water bottle should contain enough water to maintain hydration throughout the entire workout
- Water bottles will NOT be SHARED
- Failure to arrive without water will result in the athlete not being able to participate that day
FACE COVERINGS
• Face masks/coverings are recommended when appropriate. In accordance with CDC guidance, “Face coverings should be worn by coaches, youth sports staff, officials, parents, and spectators as much as possible.” (CDC Consideration for Youth Sports, 2020)

- Athletes must provide their own face coverings. It is recommended that cloth face coverings be laundered daily.
- Cloth or disposable face coverings will be worn when not engaging in vigorous activity, such as when sitting on the bench, speaking with the coach or team members, moving from field to field, interacting with an athletic trainer, etc.
- Medical grade face coverings are not necessary. Cloth or disposable face coverings are acceptable.
- Masks should be worn properly:
- Cover nose, mouth, and bottom of chin
- Ensure that you can breathe easily

- Face coverings should not be worn when engaging in high intensity aerobic or anaerobic workouts, distance running, or swimming.
- Plastic shields covering the entire face (or attached to a helmet) shall not be allowed during activities. Their use during practices or competitions increases the risk of unintended injury to the person wearing the shield, their teammates, and/or opponents. (2020 NFHS Guidance for Opening up High School Athletics and Activities, 2020)
- Coaches, officials, and other contest personnel should always wear cloth face coverings. (Artificial noisemakers such as an air horn or a timer system with an alarm can be used to signal in place of
a traditional whistle.)
• No spitting, high fives, fist pumps, or hand shakes – these are NOT permitted
• Any shared implements and equipment used must be sanitized between practices/sessions (cleaned, wiped down and allowed to dry, washed, etc.).
COVID-19 MEDICAL ACTION PLAN
• Students and/or adults who have symptoms of COVID-19 illness or feel sick must stay home and only
return with medical clearance.
• Students and/or adults who have symptoms after arriving at a training session must be isolated from the rest of the participants. The coach must contact the trainer and parents – and must be picked up or leave the site and only return with medical clearance.
